Silversun Pickups New Single: It Doesn’t Matter Why

Silversun Pickups released a single “It Doesn’t Matter Why” today ahead of their new album Widow’s Weeds to be released June 7, 2019.

This is Silversun Pickups fifth studio album following Carnavas (2006), Swoon (2009), Neck of the Woods (2012), and Better Nature (2015).

In an early interview this morning with CD 102.5 jock Brian Phillips, bassist and backing vocalist Nikki Monninger could not confirm a Columbus tour date, but anticipates a stop here in 2020.  Currently, only one date is listed on their site,  the Kaaboo Del Mar Music + Comedy Festival September 13-15, 2019.

The single is recognizable as the Silversun Pickups within the first ten seconds, even before Brian Aubert begins to sing.  Only having listened to it a couple times, I am still developing an opinion, though I dig the strings.  It reminds me a bit of an Unkle song I’ll have to look up and share. (update:  found it, not as similar as I thought)
